Soil: It is better to use weak acid soil with loose soil and deep soil layer. Illumination: It requires high light, should ensure adequate amount of light every day. Temperature: The best annual temperature for its growth is between 22-26 ℃. Watering: Newly planted cassava is not suitable for immediate watering, only need to spray water in time to make the soil slightly moist. Water should be sprinkled in time during the summer drought. Fertilization: Thin fertilizer should be applied once a month in the growing season.

1. Soil

Millet does not have strict requirements on soil, but it is most suitable for growing in neutral soil with loose soil, thick black soil layer, good drainage and rich organic matter.Because of the poor salt tolerance of millet, if it is planted in saline-alkali land, the planting amount should be increased appropriately.

2. Illumination

It is a light-loving short-day crop, insufficient light will lead to seedlings thin and high, chlorophyll content and dry matter accumulation are less.Especially in the late growth stage, it needs sufficient light, because 92% of the dry matter accumulation of grains comes from photosynthesis in the late stage.

3. Temperature

It is thermophilic and has different temperature requirements at different growth and development stages. The optimum temperature is 20 in the growth and development period, the lowest temperature is 7-8 and the optimum temperature is 24-25 in the germination period. When the temperature is lower than 7 , it is necessary to keep the temperature properly to avoid freezing damage.

4. Watering

Millet is a relatively drought-tolerant crop, generally do not need to water, but in the jointing booting and filling stage, in case of drought, should be timely watering, and topdressing booting fertilizer, can promote large ears, compete for grain number, increase seed setting rate and 1000-grain weight.

5. Fertilization

It likes fertilizer, and fertilization is generally divided into three stages. The first stage is base fertilizer, which is mainly farmyard manure, mixed with calcium superphosphate as base fertilizer, and applied to the soil in combination with ploughing or ridging.Second, fertilizer, generally with diammonium phosphate and a small amount of nitrogen fertilizer, can promote early growth and rapid development of grain seedlings. And thirdly, additional fertilize, namely applying nitrogen fertilize when that seedling height is 30-50 centimeters.
