Start by preparing your carnation-shaped candle mold or silicone flower mold. Apply a thin layer of release spray or vegetable oil to the inside of the mold to ensure easy removal of the finished candle.
Using a double boiler or a microwave-safe container, melt the candle wax. If using a double boiler, fill the bottom pot with water and place it on the stove over medium heat. Place the wax in the top pot and stir occasionally until completely melted. If using a microwave, heat the wax in short intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted.
Once the wax is melted, add candle dye or color blocks to achieve the desired color for your carnation candles. Stir well to ensure even distribution of color. If desired, add a few drops of fragrance oil to give your candles a pleasant scent. Stir again to incorporate the fragrance.
Carefully pour the melted wax into the prepared carnation-shaped candle mold. Fill the mold to the top, leaving a small space for the wick to be inserted later. Allow the wax to cool and solidify for a few minutes, but make sure it is still slightly warm and pliable.
While the wax is still warm, but not completely solidified, insert a pre-tabbed candle wick into the center of the mold. Hold the wick in place until the wax hardens enough to secure it in position. Ensure that the wick is centered and straight.
Once the wax has completely solidified and cooled, use scissors to trim the wick to the desired length, leaving about 1/4 inch above the wax surface. This will ensure a clean and even burn when the candle is lit.
Gently remove the carnation-shaped candle from the mold. If using a silicone mold, flex the sides to release the candle. If using a rigid mold, carefully push the bottom of the mold to release the candle. Your beautiful carnation-shaped candle is now ready to be displayed or gifted!
