Wanlixianghua refers to Qilixiang, also known as jiulixiang and qianlixiang, which are native to Taiwan, tropical Asia, Malaysia and the Philippines. It belongs to Rutaceae, tangerine, evergreen trees or small shrubs, with umbels at the top or in the armpit, white flowers, strong fragrance, and can be spread far away. It's said that the fragrance can still be smelled from qihuali, so it's called Qilixiang. It can also bear red berries after flowering. Ripe fruits are edible and have good mosquito repellent effect.
Qilixiang is a tropical ornamental plant, mostly used for garden hedge and bonsai. It has a pleasant fragrance of blooming. In the south, it is planted as a hedge, or as a foundation for buildings, or as a potted plant for indoor viewing. The flowers can extract aromatic oil.
Qili is rich in fragrance, which is often mentioned in literature and art works to express a certain artistic conception. The first poem in the writing career of Xi Murong, a famous female writer in Taiwan in the 20th century, is called Qilixiang.
