First of all, you need to have a basin of robust adult Christmas Cactus, choose its fat and robust stem nodes, cut off 1-2 nodes and put them in the shade to dry naturally for 2-3 days.
Prepare sand soil. Mix peat and sand according to the ratio of 4:1. Add a little water to ensure the soil is moist.
The dry stem nodes were inserted into the sand, and the temperature was controlled at 15 ~ 20 ℃. Take root after 2 ~ 3, 4 weeks can be transplanted and potted!
Grafting usually takes place from May to June or from September to October. Rootstock is selected for scion. Under the scion, select the healthy stem node of the year, cut its lower end into the shape of duck mouth, and insert cactus or toothpick into the wedge of Rootstock to fix it. Generally, one rootstock can take three spikes. After grafting, it should be kept in the half shade to keep a high humidity. After 10 days, the scion is still fresh and stiff, indicating the survival of cutting.
The germination of Christmas Cactus needs higher temperature, and it is usually sown in indoor pot.
The mixed soil is the same as the soil preparation method of cutting.
Sow the seeds directly, as shown in Fig. 3-5cm.
After sowing, keep the indoor temperature between 22 ~ 24 ℃, which is conducive to seed germination. Cover the basin mouth with thin glass to increase the humidity in the basin. Sprout in 5-9 days. The growth cycle of seedlings is longer, and more maintenance is needed.
