For cultivating potted dahlia, first select suitable soil, mainly loose and breathable; then temperature, about 20 ℃; then water, normally once every 3 to 5 days; then apply fertilizer, once every 7 to 10 days in growth period; finally, appropriately prune and spray medicine on time to prevent occurrence of diseases and insect pests.

1. Soil

Soil is very important to it, which directly determines its growth. It is afraid of dry and too wet environment, so the soil must be loose and well ventilated. Here, sand soil and humus soil are the best. In addition, no matter the way of planting in the ground or in the pot, we should do a good job of drainage in advance, otherwise, if there is water, it is easy to let it die.

2. Temperature

It likes the cool environment very much. It has no great requirement for the climate. It can grow normally at 5 to 35 degrees, but the best temperature is about 20 degrees.

3. Light

It likes light very much. When it grows, it must be kept in a sunny place, and the light time every day should be more than 6 hours. If it is less than 4 hours, it will not only affect its flowering, but also easily get sick. Of course, when the sun is too strong in summer, it must be properly shaded

4. Water

It is not only afraid of wet, but also afraid of dry, so watering can not be too much or too little, normally once every 3 to 5 days. But when the temperature is high in summer, it needs to be watered once a day.

5. Fertilization

It is very fond of fertilizer, especially in growth period, which should be applied once every 7 to 10 days. In summer, it will enter a dormant state, so at this time it must be less fertilizer

6. Trim

Pruning is very important for it, which directly affects its flowering period. In the maintenance, the side buds under the stem should be removed properly, so that it can continue to bloom. If you want to cultivate a large single flower, just keep the top bud and remove all the other lateral buds.

7. Pest control

It is very easy to be invaded by insects and diseases, so we must spray it on time and deal with it, or the plant will die.
