During cultivation, basin soil should be sandy soil with good drainage and permeability and rich in calcium. It can be made up of 3 parts of river sand, 2 parts of shell, 2 parts of coal cinder and 3 parts of rotten leaf soil (pond soil).
Prepare a large basin (coarse clay basin is suitable), prepare the soil, and keep a little humidity. Select some stout stem segments (one section is enough) and plant them in the basin, spray water on them to make the surface of the basin soil adhere, and then directly put them in the sun. Do not often water, basin soil keep dry, after a period of time, there will be some stems above the start of the golden thorns, stems will start to slightly flatten, wider, palmlike trend.
It can't be watered often. It's a way to force palmate stems to grow. If the new stems are always high quality and moist from the beginning, the new stems will not have the tendency of clapping, but will grow as the original plants. When the stem is about 2cm wide, it can be put into the basin.
Ji coral is not allowed to apply chemical fertilizer, which is easy to cause root rot. it is advisable to apply less or no fertilizer. It can be applied twice in spring and half a month in late summer and early autumn. The basin soil should be dry rather than wet. If it is too wet for a long time, it will cause the lower part of the plant to rot and soon extend to the whole plant.
If Ji coral is placed in the room with insufficient light for a long time, it will grow in vain. The new stems will be light green and become very thin. The whole plant will have another flavor. However, if it is later moved to the outside, the newly born stem will become thicker again, which will seriously affect the whole plant shape. So don't change the lighting conditions of jicoral at will, and keep the photo stable.
In the second year after transplantation, the pot soil was changed before the spring growth period, and the management was still the same. In the vigorous growth period, there will be completely palmate stem pieces, but at this time, the stem pieces are not very big and the plants are not high. If you want to get a bigger stem piece, you have to break off some extra stem buds and let it "stand alone". In the spring of the third year, change to a larger basin. If it is managed properly, it will grow the largest stem piece in the vigorous growth period.
After fully formed, the palmlike plants should be especially careful in watering and fertilization. Once rotted, it will be a great loss of several years' hard work. We should pay attention to the following points: 1. Do not apply concentrated fertilizer. 2. Better dry than wet. 3. Keep enough sunshine.
