The requirement of maogao on soil is not high. It can be mixed with peat soil, perlite and river sand. It can also be used with water moss or pure peat soil.
It likes sunshine, and sufficient light is good for its bright color. When curing it, it needs to keep a long time of light every day, which can be placed on the balcony or windowsill. If there is no direct contact with direct light, it can also provide bright scattered light. It should be noted that in summer when the light is strong, shade is needed to avoid burns. Maogao doesn't like supercooled or overheated environment. The suitable temperature for growth is between 15 ℃ - 25 ℃. It needs to be kept warm in winter. The minimum temperature needs to be kept above 0 ℃, and it needs to be maintained indoors if necessary. In summer, it will enter into dormancy if the temperature is too high.
However, the requirement of air humidity is not high, but the humidity in summer should not be too high, so as to avoid stem and leaf rot. When watering, you need to keep the soil moist. Generally, you can use the method of "waist water" to supply water. The best water to be watered is soft water. In the growing season, thin liquid fertilizer should be applied once or twice a month to avoid fertilizer damage.
The propagation of maogao can be done by cutting, usually by leaf cutting, or by taking off the small buds on the plant, planting in time, or by sowing and propagation, which is also relatively simple.
In the process of growing, there will be some pests in spring and summer, such as aphids, green insects and ground tigers. These pests are likely to eat the leaves of maogao. Once found, it is necessary to catch and kill the insects in time, and insecticides can be used if necessary.
