The sowing time of Qionghua is generally around the Qingming Festival. Take out the seeds collected in the previous year, remove the outer hard shell, soak in warm water for 24 hours, and wait until the shell softens before sowing. Note that it is difficult for untreated seeds to emerge after sowing.
After the seeds are sown, the seedlings generally can emerge in about one month, and the first leaf of the seedlings can be properly shaded. It is better not to see light at noon, so as to avoid the rapid evaporation of water, resulting in the wilting of the seedlings.
If it is often found that the leaves are curly, but they recover in the evening, it means that the weather is dry and water is insufficient, and water should be sprinkled frequently in the daytime to increase the air humidity.
Pruning is the most important step in the process of raising Qionghua flowers.
The new flower buds will differentiate after the remaining flower withers every year. In March of the next year, the flower buds began to grow. Therefore, a short cut should be carried out after the flower withers, and the branches that grow too fast should be cut short to avoid exposing the branches below with the growth of Qionghua.
With the continuous growth of Qionghua, the branches will gradually age and be re cut in time. Keep 50 cm thick branches, and cut all the remaining crown branches to promote germination of new branches.
The leaves of Qionghua often turn yellow in the process of cultivation. Pay attention to supplement phosphorus and potassium fertilizer in time and spray ferrous sulfate solution once a week.
The leaves of Qionghua are covered with fur, which is generally harmless to insects. But bacteria attach to leaves, especially in rainy seasons. So spray Bordeaux once a month and ventilate regularly.
Qionghua has developed root system and strong adaptability. During the growing period, it should supplement nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer according to the principle of thin fertilizer and frequent application.
Family potted Qionghua can choose the method of sowing, or choose to plant seedlings directly. Generally, planting with soil ball in spring or late autumn can improve the survival rate.
