Potted soil can be made up of saprophytic soil, garden soil and a mixture of small amount of river sand, ashes and bone meal. It is better to use loose and fertile sandy loam with good drainage and rich humus.
Family cultivation can be made up of 3 parts of rotten leaf soil + 3 parts of garden soil + 2 parts of river sand or furnace ash + 1 part of rotten organic fertilizer. When planting, there should be rotten soil with good drainage to mix sand; and tile the bottom of the basin to facilitate drainage.
Mirror grass is a shade resistant plant, but also likes light, not strong light, light scattering is appropriate.
When the light is too strong or too shaded, the brightness of the leaves is easy to fade or disappear. When the light is too shaded, the leaves are also easy to thin, and the petioles become longer, causing the leaves to droop. When the temperature is low in winter, full sunshine can be provided for maintenance.
The suitable growth temperature is between 15-20 ℃, and the overwintering temperature should be kept above 7 ℃, otherwise it is easy to fall leaves or even freeze to death. When the temperature is higher than 30 ℃ in summer, the growth will stagnate and the leaves will fall off easily.
In particular, the sudden drop of temperature will cause discoloration of leaf and stem, and some of them will fall off. If the damaged leaves fall off, but the stems are not damaged, they can be maintained and managed according to the routine overwintering, and the leaves can be put into plants again in the spring of cuinian. Don't put it in direct sunlight in summer.
Mirror grass likes water and is afraid of waterlogging. It can keep the basin soil moist. It is easy to wilt and droop when it is dry. In serious cases, the leaves are wrinkled, yellow and dead. When the winter temperature is lower than 12 ℃, the number of watering should be controlled, otherwise it is easy to rot and is not conducive to overwintering.
During the whole growth period, the basin is mainly kept wet. In winter, it can be relatively dry, but there should be no drying phenomenon. Otherwise, the leaves are easy to dry and black. In the dry season, water is often sprayed on the leaves and around, resulting in a small humid environment.
Fertilization
Mirror grass stem mesophyll, not resistant to thick fertilizer and large fertilizer, should be a small number of times, thin fertilizer water irrigation is the most appropriate.
In the family maintenance of mirror grass, the propagation methods of ramets and cuttings are often used. In Yunnan, seeds can also be used for propagation.
Common insect pests of specular grass: scale insects and scale insects
Common diseases of specular grass: anthrax and leaf spot
In summer, when the temperature is high and humid, try to use less or no nitrogen fertilizer to avoid root rot or even death.
In summer, the light is strong, and the sun should not be exposed to the sun.
