Rhododendron likes to loose the weak acid soil with good drainage. It can use rotten leaf soil and peat soil to mix the self-made culture soil. When it comes to the basin, it can add some bone powder and minerals.
The absorption capacity of Rhododendron is relatively weak compared with other plants, so the principle of "thin fertilizer should be applied frequently" should be followed when applying fertilizer, and the fertilizer applied in different growth periods is also different. The liquid fertilizer mainly composed of phosphorus in February to April before flowering can promote flowering to be bigger and more colorful; stop fertilization during flowering, otherwise it will lead to early flower falling; apply nitrogen fertilizer every 10 days after flowering to promote the growth of new branches. After the end of July, the liquid fertilizer mainly containing phosphorus was applied every 10-15 days. In winter, when it is dormant, fertilization is not needed.
Rhododendron is required to moisten the soil, so watering should not be too frequent, or it will lead to root rot. In spring and autumn, water once every two or three days. In summer, you can water every day. In winter, you should reduce the amount of water. Note that the water should not be too cold when watering, otherwise it will affect its growth. When watering, you can clean and spray the leaves one by one.
Rhododendron should be moved into the market in the first ten days of October until the middle and last ten days of the next April. 10 ℃ is the most suitable room temperature in winter. Pay attention to ventilation. After April, the sunshine is mild. It's OK to be outdoors.
