Gardenia cutting in South China can be carried out from March to October. The northern region is relatively cold, so it should be carried out in May June when it is warmer. The cutting temperature should not be too high or too low. When cutting, the annual branches should be used, the top 2-3 leaves should be kept, then sterilized and dried, and finally inserted into the substrate or water.

The cutting time of gardenia is different in different regions. The southern region is relatively warm. It is suggested to choose March to October. Compared with the south, it is relatively cold in the north. It is better to do it around May June. Generally speaking, it is OK to choose the time after the temperature rises in spring, such as early summer

2. Cutting method

1. Branch selection: select the good lignified branches in growth state, the best annual branches, such branches are easier to root. If it is a new or too old branch, it is very difficult to live in cutting

2. Disinfection: after cutting from the mother plant, it is necessary to put it in a cool and ventilated place to dry the incision, or use carbendazim for disinfection. If cutting without treatment, it is easy to black and rot.

3. Treatment: keep 2-3 leaves on the top of the branch, and cut off the rest. Prepare a clean substrate for detoxification. If hydroponics, prepare a clean container and water.

4. Cutting: insert the treated branches into the soil or water. If the soil culture is to be maintained in a slightly wet state, if the water culture is to be changed frequently, the branches shall not rot.
