Orchid likes acid soil very much. The pH value of soil is best between 5.5-6.5. It will grow better in slightly acid soil. Do not use alkaline soil to cultivate orchids. This soil is not suitable for its growth and may stop the growth of plants. It is best to use the soil with good air permeability and high nutrient content, because the good air permeability of soil is conducive to the respiration of plant roots, and the nutrient contained can support its growth.
Secondly, the drainage capacity of the soil should be stronger, otherwise it will affect the normal discharge of water, and its roots will rot if soaked in water. Finally, it should be clean. There should be no bacteria or eggs in it, so it should be disinfected before use.
When mixing soil, you can mix garden soil and rotten bark together, or mix rotten leaf soil, river sand and appropriate perlite. At the bottom of the flowerpot, you can also put some coarse sand, which can increase the drainage of the soil, the air permeability will be better, and can make the orchid grow better and more robust.
