It is the nutritive soil or river sand, mud carbon soil and other materials used for cutting. It is difficult to get the ideal cutting media for family cutting due to limited conditions. It is recommended to use the prepared and detoxified cutting media; it is also OK to use medium coarse river sand, but it should be rinsed with water several times before use.
Don't use sea sand and river sand in saline and alkaline areas. They are not suitable for the growth of flowers and plants.
The branches used for cutting are called cuttings. Usually combined with the work of coring, the thick, disease-free top shoots are taken as cuttings, and the top shoots are directly used for cutting.
The optimum temperature of cuttings rooting is 18 ℃ - 25 ℃, lower than 18 ℃, cuttings rooting is difficult and slow; higher than 25 ℃, cuttings are easy to be infected by pathogens and rot, and the higher the temperature, the greater the proportion of rot.
When cutting at low temperature, the main measure of heat preservation is to wrap the flower pots or containers that are used for cuttings. When the temperature is too high at cuttage, the measures to cool down are mainly to shade the shading, cover the 50-80% of the sunlight, and spray the cuttings 3-5 times a day. The higher the temperature is, the higher the temperature is. Less or no spray.
After cutting, the relative humidity of air must be kept at 75-85%. Spray can be used to increase the humidity by 1-3 times a day. The higher the temperature is, the higher the temperature is. The lower the temperature is, the less the spray will be.
But spraying too much, the cuttings are easily rotted by the infection of bacteria, because many kinds of germs exist in water.
However, the stronger the light, the higher the temperature in the cuttings, the stronger the transpiration of cuttings, and the more water consumed, which is not conducive to the survival of cuttings.
Therefore, it is necessary to cover 50-80% of the sunlight after cutting, and gradually remove the shading net after the root system grows: remove the shading net at 4:00 p.m. every day in sunny days, and cover the shading net before 9:00 a.m. the next day.
