Because of high temperature, high humidity and poor ventilation, the fleshy roots of Clivia are easy to rot.
In addition, the water in the soil is large and hard to volatilize for a long time, resulting in poor permeability. Roots are discolored and rotten after being immersed in water for a long time.
The fertilizer in the nutrient soil is not fully fermented, resulting in root rot caused by fever. In the growth period, improper fertilization and excessive amount of fertilizer will cause the fertilizer to contact the root, cause burning the root and affect the absorption capacity of the root. If the root tissue is damaged and rotten, the thin fertilizer should be applied frequently.
When the root is injured, when changing or dividing the basin, it will be broken or rotted due to the bruised root. The rotten meat root must be completely eliminated, then it should be coated with charcoal or fine ashes to dry, and then it should be filled with soil to prevent the injured root from directly contacting with the nutrient soil bacteria and rotting.
Poor air permeability, use of ceramic basin, plastic basin and so on lead to poor air permeability and water permeability of basin soil and rotten roots.
The soil quality is not good, there are bacterial diseases that erode the fleshy roots and cause festering.
If individual roots of adult large Clivia rots, it will show as a leaf with dry tip, black leaves, scorch and falling off. Corresponding to the above reasons for rotten roots of Clivia, find out why Clivia has become so, and then deal with rotten roots.
The young Clivia has very few and delicate roots. If rotten roots occur, they will all rot and the leaves will be drooping. Therefore, the small plants of Clivia need our special care.
Don't water the Clivia too much. Water it in proper amount. Too much water will make the nutrient soil water content too large, poor permeability, root growth can not get enough oxygen, produce rotten roots. When watering, please pay attention not to pour water into the center of Clivia, so as not to cause water accumulation along the stem to the root. Watering is usually once a week, with fertilization.
The nutritive soil bought from the market has poor air permeability, and the soil is too raw or too ripe. If the soil contains incomplete rotten components, long-term watering and fertilization in the basin soil will generate heat, which is easy to rot. Or the flower soil prepared by ourselves is sticky, with high water content and difficult to evaporate, poor permeability, bacteria will invade the plant with the wound, resulting in rotten roots. So it is very important to choose the flower soil before planting.
If the air permeability of the flowerpot used for cultivating Clivia is poor, you can consider changing it into a porcelain basin or a rough pottery basin.
Remove rotten roots: plant the rotten Clivia out of the flowerpot, gently peel off the soil, wash the roots with water, and clean the rotten roots with scissors. If there are yellow or weak leaves, it is better to cut off those damaged leaves.
Disinfection treatment: soak the cleaned root in 0.1% potassium permanganate solution for 5 minutes, dip it with a little sulfur powder or plant ash or carbendazim, and then dry it in a cool place (about 2 days).
After disinfection, the roots can be replanted with river sand properly. When the temperature of the plant is properly raised to 22-30 ℃, new roots can grow after two months, and then they can be replanted in the nutrient pot soil. After planting, control watering, do not dry or water, so as to avoid root rot again, and put it in a cool and ventilated place.
This thorough disinfection not only refers to the disinfection of the root of Clivia, but also the disinfection of the soil on the basin to prevent the root system from continuing to rot.
After the treatment of rotten root of Clivia, the temperature of the upper basin should be kept at 20-25 ℃, and the ventilation effect must be better. In addition, less water and too wet pot soil are not only harmful to rooting, but also dangerous to rot again.
Also note that the flowerpot after rotten root treatment should be placed in the place of light scattering to avoid direct sunlight, because the Clivia is very fragile at this time, you think, the roots have been cut, of course, to be gentle!
Some flower friends think that the root of Clivia is rotten. Although it has been treated and transplanted in the basin, they need to check whether the root system is still rotten or not from time to time. In fact, such an approach is not only meaningless, but also increases the probability of infection of Clivia.
