Catmilk is a shrub or small tree, with a height of 2-9m. Its new branches are green, with short, dense hairs on them.
Its leaves are inverted egg shaped, with a length of about 4-12cm and a width of about 2-5cm. Its base is round, and its top gradually becomes sharp. The leaves are green above, without villi, yellow green below, with villi. There are serrations at the leaf margin. It has a petiole about 2 - 6 mm in length and also has villi on it.
Its flowers have pedicels of 1-4mm long and may be sparsely hairy or glabrous. The sepals of flowers are triangular, with sparse short hairs at the edge. The petals are obovate and yellow green.
