Erqiao magnolia is a small tree, about 6-10 meters high. Its leaves are papery, obovate in shape, 6-15 cm long and 4-7.5 cm wide. There are 7-9 veins on each side of the lateral veins. When they are dry, the veins on both sides will be raised. The petioles are pubescent, about 1-1.5cm long.
The flower bud of erqiaomulan is oval, the flower opens before the leaf, the color changes from light red to dark red, with 6-9 perianth pieces. The flowering period is from February to March every year.
Erqiaomulan is an aggregate fruit with a length of about 8 cm and a diameter of about 3 cm. Follicles are oval or obovoid, black at maturity, with white lenticels. The seeds are dark brown, wide obovoid or obovoid, and the fruit period is from September to October every year.
