The stems and branches of corals have relatively large nodes, which can grow to 50-120 cm high.
The leaves of corals are leathery, elliptic or ovate to ovate lanceolate, with a length of about 6-17 cm and a width of about 2-6 cm. The top is acuminate, the bottom is also very sharp or cuneiform, the edge of the leaf has rough sharp serration, both sides are glabrous.
The flowers of Caoshanhu are yellow green, spikes are terminal and usually branched. Bracts are triangular, stamens are 1, rod to cylinder.
Its drupe is globose, width is about 3-4 millimeter, open in August to October, turn bright red after ripening.
