The leaf shape of Acer truncatum is wide oval at the initial stage, and it will become obovate at the later stage, about 10-15 cm long and 3.5-9 cm wide. Its apex is close to round, sometimes sharp, and its base is wide wedge-shaped, with the whole edge. The upper color is green, the belt is a little pink green, with white papillary protuberances.
The inflorescence of Acer auricula is raceme, the flowers are smaller, without petals, and the perianth is persistent, which is calyx like. The pedicel of male flower is about 1.2 cm long, perianth piece has 3-4 pieces, filament is very short. Female flowers pedicel ca. 5-6 mm, style short, stigma 2-branched.
