Huaxiang tree is a small tree with a height of about 2-6m. Its bark is gray, its new branches are green, its biennial old branches are dark brown, and there are relatively thin pores on them.
Its leaf length is between 15-30cm, with 7-23 leaflets on it. The leaflets are papery, mostly opposite, occasionally alternate, in egg shape, with a length of about 4-11cm and a width of about 1.5-3.5cm. The lateral leaflets have no petioles, and the terminal leaflets have petioles about 2-3cm long. Serrated at leaf margin
The male flowers are yellow and have broad egg like bracts with 6-8 stamens and broad egg shaped anthers. The female flower has egg like bracts.
