The best time to graft chrysanthemum in high temperature is cloudy, followed by windless morning.
Two or three days before grafting, the chrysanthemum should be watered. The watered part is the stock and scion mother plant. The purpose is to increase the water content of the stock and scion.
Chrysanthemum grafting one or two hours before the rootstock and scion mother plant water spray, need to pay special attention to wait until the water on the leaves all evaporate before the grafting.
Prepare enough plastic bags, put the bags in water and soak them completely, then apply them after grafting.
Splicing. The selection of scion was the top of chrysanthemum seedling with 5 ~ 7cm long, and two or three leaves were left at the top, and the larger leaves in the lower half were removed. After that, use a double-sided knife to cut the scion into a 1.5cm long wedge. After cutting, hold it in the mouth, and pay attention to avoid saliva. After that, the rootstock should be cut from the grafting part by cutting it from the middle of the rootstock with a knife, and the depth should be slightly longer or the same length (1.5 ~ 2cm) than the scion section. Insert the scion into the split small opening, align the two forming layers, tightly wrap the joint with plastic strips from top to bottom, and smear the soil on the cross section to achieve the effect of moisture preservation. Finally, put the prepared plastic bag on it and bind the bag mouth. In particular, when covering plastic bags, attention should be paid to cover the scion with several Artemisia leaves under the interface into the bag.
After grafting, the chrysanthemum should be shaded in time. If the grafting area is small, the paper or kraft paper soaked can be used to cover all the grafting parts with the help of bamboo pole bracket. If it is a larger grafting area of chrysanthemum shading tools can choose shading network. If the scion does not lose water and wilt, the shade can be removed after six or seven days of shading. Spray water three or four times a day on a sunny day, and at the same time increase the vents on the plastic bags. When the weather is relatively dry, spray a small amount of water into the plastic bag, so that the scion gradually adapts to the external environment. Once it is found that the scion in the plastic bag wilts or dies, it shall be supplemented in time. About 20 days, the scion began to grow rapidly. At this time, the plastic strip tied to the scion should be removed in time.
