Vanilla blooms from April to may, and then bears fruit. The capsule will ripen soon. Generally, it can be harvested and seeds can be taken out in May June. Need to pay attention to, although the fruit period is very long, but the capsule will crack to a certain extent, so that the seeds are lost, must be picked before cracking.
Vanilla is suitable for growing in loose and fertile soil. Basin soil should be sandy soil, which can also provide good drainage. It can be made up of humus soil, garden soil and sand soil, the proportion of which is 5:3:2. Pot soil can be added a little animal manure, can provide certain nutrition for seedlings
When the pot of soil is ready, it can be seeded. The seed of vanilla will not be dormant, so it can be sown at any time without germination. The seeds are sprinkled on the surface of the basin soil, then covered with a layer of fine soil, and then watered to keep the substrate moist. After sowing, it should be placed in a cool place, and the temperature should be controlled between 15-20 ℃. Germinate in about three weeks.
It takes a summer for the seedlings to grow out. At this time, the upper part of the seedlings is withered and yellow, but it is a normal phenomenon to enter the dormancy period. During the dormancy period, it is not suitable to water, but to apply P and K fertilizer to provide nutrients. In autumn, it will start to grow again. Generally a year or so will grow out of the ball.
