This Mint was first discovered and named by Carl Linnaeus when he collected samples in the UK. Linnaeus thought this plant was a new species, but there was a consensus in the academic community that peppermint was classified as a hybrid plant.
Peppermint is a perennial herb with fragrant and cool taste. It has creeping rhizome, on which there are nodes, each node has two opposite buds and bud scales. The stem is tetragonal, erect, the upper part is hairy, and the lower part only has a few hairs along the edge.
The leaves are opposite, oblong lanceolate to elliptic, 8-10cm long and 3-5cm wide, with sharp top, flat leaf surface, bright green to dark green leaves, sunken reticulum, deep and sharp serrations on the edge, 1-2cm long petiole and hairy.
Cymes axillary, calyx tube campanulate.
Sand loam with good drainage or deep loam soil is better. Evenly spread the seeds among them, slightly cover the soil and keep it moist. When the temperature is 20-25 ° C, the seeds germinate faster. After germination, let the seedlings receive light as soon as possible to avoid excessive growth.
The growth of peppermint needs enough light, especially after germination, the lack of light will lead to the excessive growth of branches and leaves.
Peppermint grows very fast. When the seedlings grow to a certain height, the heart is removed and the top is knocked out to promote branches. In addition, the yellow leaves should be removed in time.
