1. Sunlight: Rhododendron is not suitable to be exposed to the sun, but it can grow under the scattered light. Too much sunlight can cause leaves to burn, wither and die. So summer noon must be timely shade, or put half of the shade.
2. Soil: Rhododendron has certain requirements for soil. Besides good drainage, it is better to have acid. General use rotten leaf soil, sand soil mix configuration, introduce a small amount of cake fertilizer as base fertilizer.
3. Watering: the Rhododendron can't be watered dry or damp, just keep the soil slightly moist. Generally in spring and autumn, water every two to three days. In summer, we need to water every day, and in winter, we need to dry and then water. The water quality should also be strictly controlled. Before use, it can be acidified with ferrous sulfate or vinegar. The temperature should also be close to the room temperature.
4. Fertilization: the requirement of fertilization for Rhododendron is very high. At the beginning of spring, organic fertilizer can be added to flowerpot as base fertilizer. After the flowering period, topdressing once every 15 days. When the branches stop growing a little, they can stop fattening. Topdressing in autumn is good for overwintering, but not suitable for fertilization in winter.
There are many ways of propagation of Rhododendron, such as cutting, grafting, layering, splitting and sowing. Cutting is the most common, mostly in May June. Select the current year's branches, cut out 10 cm segments, keep the top 3-4 leaves, and remove the rest. Insert the cuttings into the pot soil for 3-4cm, compact and pour them into water, wait for their rooting and then transplant.
1. Diseases: root rot, brown spot, black spot, etc. Cut off the diseased branches and leaves, and spray with medicine to prevent recurrence.
2. Insect damage: common spiders, aphids, etc. Use wet cloth to wipe out pests, then spray pesticide to kill larvae.
