Water bamboo has a wide range of light adaptation, so it is only necessary to avoid the strong sunlight in summer noon during maintenance. At other times, water bamboo can be put in the sun all day to receive light. In summer, it is placed in the half shade, which can keep its leaves green and not old.
Water bamboo is not strict to the soil, but it should be noted that it is a acidophilic plant, we must choose the weak acid soil with strong viscosity, loose and fertile to breed. Because the soil in most areas of North China contains more salt and alkali, it is not suitable for its growth. During maintenance, 0.2% ferrous sulfate can be poured every other month.
Water bamboo is not cold resistant, and it can survive winter in East China with a little protection of the open land. In winter, it's better to move into the room for maintenance, and pay attention to the indoor temperature environment not less than 5 ℃, otherwise it will cause the root to be frozen. In summer, if the outdoor temperature reaches 35 ℃, spray water and shade it to reduce the temperature.
Water bamboo has a high demand for water. It is best to use mineral water and purified water for irrigation, followed by tap water. If it is tap water, it must be taken out in advance and left to dry for 1-2 days. Keep its basin soil moist during the growing season. It can make the basin accumulate water about 5cm deep. When the temperature is high, spray water on the blade surface to keep the humidity.
The requirement of water bamboo for fertilizer amount is very small, fertilizer should be thin and applied frequently. In the peak growing season, apply fertilizer 1-2 times a month. Don't apply fertilizer frequently, and don't apply too much fertilizer, so as not to burn its root system, causing it to have yellow leaves, fallen leaves and other problems.
