Gardenia is afraid of cold, it is difficult to survive in the environment below zero. Under the low temperature environment, branches and leaves will have different degrees of frostbite, which has adverse effects on the beauty and later growth. Among them, Gardenia jasminoides Ellis is a relatively cold resistant variety, which can accept the low temperature of minus 1-3 degrees, but the lower the temperature will have an impact, resulting in frost damage. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare for overwintering, move the plant to the indoor for maintenance in time, contact with sufficient sunlight, and improve the temperature of the plant, so as to maintain it at about 10 degrees. Even if it is placed outdoors, it can also be covered with bags for heat preservation.
If frostbite happens accidentally, it needs to be dealt with in time. First, observe the condition of the plant. If the degree of frostbite is light, you can cut off the frostbite part first, then gradually increase the surrounding temperature, cooperate with appropriate water spray. Be careful not to put it in the place with high temperature immediately, otherwise it will be difficult for the plant to adapt for a while
If severe frostbite is observed, the root can be dug out first. If the root is fresh, the upper branches can be pruned, the redundant branches cut off, and then replanted. After planting, it should be placed in a place with suitable temperature to wait for germination, and it should not be exposed to strong light.
