Cherries like light and are more shade tolerant. When the light condition is good, the fruit branch is strong, the flower bud is full, and the fruit setting rate is high. When the light condition is poor, the potted plants tend to grow in vain, the branches and buds are weak, the development is poor, the fruit ripens late and the quality is poor.
Cherry is suitable for planting on loam, sandy loam, gravel loam or light clay loam which is loose and fertile, good in permeability, strong in water and fertilizer conservation. PH value of planting soil shall be kept between 6.0-7.5, and attention shall be paid to prevent soil from salinization during maintenance.
In the germination stage, the temperature should be kept between 10-15 ℃; in the flowering stage, the temperature should be kept between 12-18 ℃; in the ripening stage, the temperature should be kept between 20-25 ℃. It is not resistant to low temperature. In the whole winter, potted plants should be kept at 5-10 ℃. When the temperature is below - 10 ℃ in winter and - 7 ℃ in early spring, it may suffer from frost damage.
Cherry is very sensitive to water, likes water, does not drought and waterlogging. Watering shall be done timely during maintenance. If it is a potted plant, it should be watered regularly to keep its soil slightly wet. If the plants are planted on the ground, they should be watered in time when there is no rain for a long time.
Generally speaking, fertilization once every four or five months can meet the nutritional growth needs of Nanking cherry. We can choose the organic fertilizer, such as the ripe rice washing water, and apply it with a small amount of compound fertilizer. When maintaining at home, you can also put a small amount of bean dregs of soybean milk and fruit dregs after juice squeezing into the pot soil for Nanking cherry cultivation as fertilizer.
