Purple calyx likes to grow in wet environment. Proper light is good for its growth and flowering, but it can not be exposed to direct sunlight for a long time. In summer, the light is strong, so it needs to cover half of the light. In the other three seasons, you can keep it in direct sunlight.
Its adaptability is strong, and there is not much demand for soil. General soil can grow well, but it is best to plant in fertile sandy loam.
The optimum temperature for its growth is 18-32 ℃. The high temperature and sultry in summer are not good for its growth. It will stop growing when the temperature is below 10 ℃ in winter, so it needs to move indoors in winter.
It likes a slightly humid environment, suitable for growth in the relative humidity of 50-70%. In its growth period, it must be watered in time to keep the soil moist all the time. Pay attention to drainage in rainy season to avoid ponding in basin.
In its growth period, fertilizer can be applied every 1-2 months, and organic fertilizer or N, P, K fertilizer is the best. Fertilization is also needed before flowering to provide it with sufficient nutrients and extend the flowering period.
