It is a good material for seed selection because of its rapid propagation, well-developed root system, strong seedling and great variability.
The seeds shall be of uniform size, plump and Tan luster.
Before sowing, the seeds should be sun dried, soaked in 30 ℃ warm water for 12-24 hours, soaked in concentrated sulfuric acid for 5 minutes, washed with water and dried before sowing.
In April, seeds can be seeded and propagated. The lowest temperature of seed germination is 8-12 ℃, the most suitable temperature is 20-25 ℃, and the seeds can be planted in May. However, the variation of lavender seed propagation is large and the seed price is high.
Lavender is mainly propagated by cutting, which can keep the good quality of mother plant.
Cutting adaptability is strong, it can be carried out in spring and autumn. Generally, the healthy plant top buds without diseases and insect pests or the tender and non lignified branches are selected for cutting. When cutting, the leaves at the bottom of the two sections are removed, and then soaked with 100 times of "root sun" rooting agent. After treatment, the cuttings will take root in the soil for about 2-3 weeks.
The medium of cutting can be mixed evenly with river sand and ellipsoidal bran in the proportion of 2:1, and then put into a 5 * 10 hole plate for cutting.
After cutting, the seedlings shall be placed in a ventilated and cool environment, and the soil shall be kept moist for the first three days. Later, depending on the weather, the branches shall not be wrinkled or dried, so as to improve the survival rate.
Cuttage management is more convenient, the whole seedling stage does not need to apply fertilizer, more production.
