Cutting propagation is one of the most commonly used methods of seabuckthorn propagation. The main reason is that cutting is not only easy, but also has a high survival rate.
First of all, before choosing cuttings, we need to prepare the soil, and also pay attention to the cutting season. In general, it's in the warm spring when the wound is easy to heal. After choosing the time, we need to choose the preparation soil. The selection requirements of the soil are fertility, good air permeability and rich nutrition. Before cutting, if there are conditions, we need to prepare the soil. On the one hand, it can remove the eggs hidden in the soil, on the other hand, it can remove the seeds of weeds.
The second step is to select the cuttings, which are cut from the strong and tender mother branches. Generally, each cuttings is kept at five to eight centimeters, including three to five buds.
The third step is to insert the cuttings into the prepared basin soil, and then pour enough water. At the beginning, the cuttings are placed in a cool place for maintenance, and when they are about to take root, they can gradually maintain seabuckthorn in the sun.
In the process of layering propagation, the horizontal layering method is generally selected. The best period of layering propagation is in early spring. The selected branches are two-year-old branches. The selected 15 cm branches are purchased into sawdust and kept at a temperature of 10-15 ℃. After the callus is grown, it is necessary to take it out and buy the nursery. In this way, it can grow in two weeks. New branches, this way of reproduction need to pay attention to the temperature and reproduction period, a little inattention will greatly reduce the survival rate of seabuckthorn.
When grafting, the way of branch grafting is mostly in the form of wedging, which can greatly increase the contact area between the rootstock and the branch during grafting, which is very conducive to the survival of seabuckthorn. The best time for grafting is also in spring, about March. After selecting the rootstock, cut the robust branches and graft them on the rootstock and wrap them with plastic.
