For the cutting seedlings of the year, when the first time the leaves grow to 5-8 cm, they can be cut off and cultured with 2-3 branches; when the second time the leaves grow to about 8 cm, they can be cut off for the second time, each branch retains 2-3 strong buds, wipes out too many weak buds and cultivates 6-9 secondary branches. Daphne odora is resistant to pruning, and has a strong advantage of top. When pruning, it is suitable to adopt the method of removing the top to promote germination. Generally, from June to July, a part of the new shoots or 1 /2 of the new shoots are cut off in batches, so as to promote the sprouting of the lateral buds under the cutting mouth. The uncut spring shoots have stopped growing for a long time, and can carry out flower bud differentiation and bud pregnancy after autumn, while the growth of the sprouted new shoots after summer pruning has not stopped, the flower bud differentiation will be slightly later, thus prolonging the flowering period of Daphne.
