The leaves of Agave are similar to those of aloe. They are green with little thorns. However, the leaves of Agave are a little gray, with a length of 1.7m and a width of 20cm. Aloe leaves are grass green, about 15 to 40 cm long and 1.5 cm thick. In contrast, Agave leaves are longer and larger.
Secondly, although the leaves of Agave are fleshy, they have fine tendons after being broken and will not flow out juice. Aloe leaves after breaking without fine tendons, will flow out of the yellow viscous juice.
The leaves of Agave have barbs, which are hard and sharp. The leaves of aloe also have barbs, but they are soft.
When the agave leaves are growing, they will be wrapped layer by layer, and the outer leaves will be wrapped with the inner leaves. The base is arranged in a rosette. Aloe's leaves are arranged in a ring, separated from the leaflets, and the growth is more conspicuous.
The flowering of Agave is not easy to see. When flowering, the pedicel is drawn out from the center of the rosette. The inflorescence is tall, up to 7-8 meters. When flowering, there are hundreds of white or light yellow bell shaped flowers. After flowering, oval or spherical fruits will be produced.
Aloe is a raceme, flowering stems from the leaves in the cluster, inflorescence is not as high as Agave, 60 to 90 cm. Flowers are dense, orange yellow with yellow spots, calyx green, flowers larger than agave. It bears triangular fruits and many seeds.
It should be noted that agave is toxic and may be poisoned if eaten by mistake, and there is no beauty effect of agave. Some varieties of aloe can be eaten, but they are not all poison free.
