The leaves of Bluestar flowers are alternate, long elliptic, with no serration on the whole edge, and thick white hairs on the back of the leaves. But the leaf blade of blue snowflake is wide egg shape or inverted egg shape, only the edge has hair, other place has no hair, usually has the tiny calcium grain.
The blue star flower is axillary, closed petaled, with blue crown, 5-lobed and white star shape in the center. If properly maintained, it can bloom all year round. The blue snowflake grows on the short stalk of the 1-3 node leaf axil at the branch end and the upper part. The corolla tube is purplish red, and the lobes are blue. The flowering period is from July to September.
The plant height of Bluestar is about 30-60 cm, the stem is semi tendril, with dense white hair. The blue snowflake is smaller than the former, usually 20 - 30 cm, with a thinner stem.
