Dogwood leaves are opposite, paper-based, ovate lanceolate or ovate elliptic in shape, 5.5 to 10 cm in length and 2.5 to 4.5 cm in width. The apex of the leaves gradually becomes sharp, the base is wide wedge-shaped or nearly round, the whole leaf, green above and light green below.
The leaves of Evodia rutaecarpa have 5 to 11 small pieces. The leaves are thin or thick paper, oval or lanceolate, 6 to 18 cm long and 3 to 7 cm wide. The leaves are all or near light wavy, and the two sides and axes of the leaves have villi.
The corymb of Cornus grows on the branch side, with 4 petals, which are tongue shaped lanceolate, 3.3 mm long and yellow.
The inflorescence of Evodia rutaecarpa is terminal. The sepals and petals of the flowers are all 5. The petals are 3 to 5mm long, and the ventral surface of the petals is hairy.
The stone fruit of dogwood is oval, red or purplish red, 1.2 to 1.7 cm long and 5 to 7 mm in diameter.
Evodia rutaecarpa is 3 to 12 cm in fruit width. When the fruit is mature, it is dark purplish red and has oil spots.
