The leaves of Michelia esculenta are leathery, dark green on the surface, light green on the back, oblong and elliptic, about 7-18cm long and 3.5-8.5cm wide, with 7-12 on each side of the lateral vein. The leaves of Lechang Michelia are thin leathery, in obovate or oblong obovate, smaller than the former, similar in color to the former, with 9-15 lateral veins on each side.
There are 9 tepals of Michelia in the deep mountain, the color is pure white, the base is slightly reddish, and the outer ring is obovate. But Lechang Michelia perianth piece has 6 pieces, the color is the light yellow, the outer wheel is the inverted egg shape ellipse.
The aggregate fruit of Michelia esculenta is 7-15 cm long, the follicles are oblong or oval, and the seeds are red. The aggregate fruit of Lechang Michelia is smaller than the former, about 10 cm, follicles and seeds are similar to the former.
