The leaves of babaojingtian are oblong to ovate oblong, alternate or whorled, about 8-10cm long and 2-3.5cm wide, with sharp apex, narrow base, serrated edge and almost sessile.
Leaves of Sedum notoginseng are broadly ovate to oblanceolate, alternate or nearly opposite, slightly smaller than the former, ca. 5-8 cm, apex slightly pointed, margin slightly serrate, nearly entire.
Five petals of babaojingtian, white or pink, in the shape of a wide Lancet. About 5-6 mm long, apex acuminate. The flowering period is from May to September.
Sedum notoginseng also has 5 petals, which are yellow, oblong and lanceolate, with a short apex. The flowering period is from June to August.
