Casuarina equisetifolia's woody stems are short, some are creeping, small branches are straight or slightly curved, the surface has fine longitudinal grooves, the length between joints is 2.5 to 5.5 cm, most of them are 3 to 4 cm, the diameter is about 2 mm, green.
The stem of Equisetum is horizontal or vertical, cylindrical, dark brown, with a height of 1 meter or more, a diameter of 5 to 9 mm, and a joint length of about 5 to 8 cm, green.
The leaves of Casuarina equisetifolia have two lobes, the leaf sheath accounts for 1 /3 or 2 /3 of the total length, the sharp lobes are triangular, and the apex is very sharp.
The leaves of Equisetum degenerate into scales, the base of which is a tube shaped sheath, about 6 to 10 mm long.
The flowers of Casuarina equisetifolia grow on the top of the lateral branches, which are oval or oblong, with 4 pairs of bracts. When the flower is mature, it is fleshy red, oval or nearly round, about 8 mm in length and 6 mm in diameter.
Equisetum doesn't bloom, it will propagate through spores.
