French holly leaves are leathery, oval, oblong, obovate or obovate, sometimes nearly round, growing about 7 to 20 cm, the top is short or gradually sharp, the base is wide wedge-shaped, vaguely nearly round, the edge of the leaf has irregular light wavy serrations, the upper surface of the leaf is dark green and shiny, both sides are hairless.

French Holly panicles terminal or lateral on short branches, 6 to 13.5 cm long, 4.5 to 6 cm wide, corolla white, then yellow white.
Holly flowers are cymes or umbels, the inflorescences are solitary in the axils of the current year's branches or clustered in the axils of the 2-year-old branches. The flowers are small, white, pink or red.
