Pepper leaves are thick, nearly leathery, broad ovate to ovate oblong, vaguely nearly round, 10 to 15 cm long, about 5 to 9 cm wide, with short and sharp top, round base, no fluff on both sides of the leaf, 5 to 7 veins on the leaf, 1 to 2 cm long petiole.
The leaves of Zanthoxylum bungeanum have 5 to 13 leaflets, opposite leaflets, no petioles, oval or oval. The leaves on the top of the leaf shaft are lanceolate according to the rare leaves, which are 2 to 7 cm long and 1 to 3.5 cm wide, with fine split teeth on the edge of the leaves.
The inflorescence of pepper is opposite to the leaf, shorter than the leaf or as long as the leaf, the total peduncle is as long as the petiole, the bracts are spoon shaped and oblong, 3 to 3.5 cm long, the top is wide and round, and the bracts are light cup-shaped.
There are 6 to 8 perianth segments, which are yellow green and have the same shape and size.
Pepper berry spherical, sessile, 3 to 4 mm in diam., red when mature, black when immature.
Pepper fruit red, 4 to 5 mm in diameter, scattered with micro raised oil points.
