The leaves of Paeonia suffruticosa are compound leaves with broad ovate or ovate outline, 15 to 20 cm long, pinnately divided, lanceolate or oblong lanceolate lobes, 0.7 to 2 cm wide, and 4 to 8.5 cm long petioles.
The leaves of Dahlia have 1 to 3 times full pinnate split, the upper leaves sometimes do not split, the lobes are oval or oblong oval, the two sides of the leaves are hairless, and the bottom of the leaves is gray green.
Each plant usually has 2 to 5 flowers. The flowers grow on the top of the branch or under the armpit. The diameter is 6 to 8 cm. The petals are 9 to 12. The color is usually red or red purple.
