The leaves of Panax notoginseng are oval or oval, 3 to 8 cm long and 1.5 to 3.5 cm wide. The top of the leaves is gradually sharp, and the base of the leaves is blunt or wedge-shaped. The leaves are entire or have wavy tooth marks, and both sides of the leaves are hairless.

The flowers of Panax notoginseng are terminal or axillary corymbs, each of which has 3 to 5 heads, long and thin peduncles, 20 to 30 florets, orange yellow flowers, 12 to 15 mm long corolla, oval lanceolate lobes, and sharp tips.
The flowers of Panax notoginseng are umbels, which grow on the top of branches and stems alone. There are 80 to 100 or more flowers, and the total pedicel is 7 to 25 cm long. The flowers are very small and light yellow green.
