The leaves of snow element are very similar to those of spring orchid in appearance. But there are obvious differences.
The leaves of Da Xue Su are green, 50-70cm long and 1-1.3cm wide. One Da Xue Su can cluster 5-7 leaves, which are arched and half drooping.
The leaves of Chunlan are similar to those of blizzard. They are clustered, narrow and sharp, with rough edges and fine serrations. The leaves of Cymbidium are generally 4-6 pieces, 20-60cm long, 100cm in a few, and 0.6-1.1cm wide.
Comparing the two, we can see that the leaves of Blizzard are bigger and thicker.
Snow element and spring orchid flowers are very different, which is a good mark of distinction.
The flowers of Blizzard and Chunlan are also three petals standing in three directions, just like a small fan. Labellum shorter than petal, apex retrorse. The difference is the shape and color of the petals.
The petals of snow white have light green veins. Petals narrow and long, apex more acute. The main valve is straight, the side valve is flat shoulder or slightly falling shoulder. There is a light hidden red spot on the snow-white tongue, commonly known as "water stain".
The flower petals of Chunlan have light yellow green, green white, yellow white and sometimes light red. Petals narrow and round, sharp or blunt, ovate lanceolate, slightly curved. There are purple brown stripes at the base of midvein.
There are at least 3 flowers in one stem of snow element, and at most 7 flowers can bloom. When spring orchid blooms, the flowers are solitary, and at a few times 2 flowers will bloom.
In addition to some differences in external morphology, there are also differences in growth habits and cultivation methods between snow element and spring orchid. In general, the cultivation of snow element is similar to that of spring orchid, but the requirement is higher.
