The stem leaf and root leaf of zihuaqianhu have long petioles, about 13-36 cm, and the base will expand into purple leaf sheath. Leaves are triangular to oval, hard papery. The basal leaves of Qianhu have petioles, about 5-15 cm long, and the stem leaves have no petioles. The leaves are broadly ovate or triangular ovate in outline.
Zihuaqianhu is a compound cyme, lateral and terminal. There are 1-3 involucral bracts, which are oval and purple in color. The petals are obovate and oval lanceolate, and the flowers are dark purple. The flowering period is from August to September. However, the bracts are linear, the petals are ovate and the flowers are white. Florescence is similar to the former.
