The crispy duck plant is an upright fleshy shrub that can grow tall. The leaves are of rosette shape, broad egg shape, smooth and green, red at the top and edge of the leaves, with a tip and an edge on the back of the leaves, which will turn red. Early summer flowering, cross pollination.
The crispy duck likes sunny, cool and dry environment, resistant to half shade, afraid of waterlogging and sultry. It has the habit of growing in cold and cool seasons and sleeping in high temperature in summer. The growth period is from September to June of the next year.
The plants with insufficient light are easy to grow in vain, and the upper and lower distance between leaves will be longer, which makes the plant type loose and the stem very fragile. The plants growing in sunny places are short and strong, and the arrangement between leaves will be relatively compact.
During the growth period, the soil should be kept slightly wet to avoid ponding. In winter, the water will be cut off when the temperature is below 5 ℃. When the temperature is over 35 ℃ in summer, the growth of the whole plant basically stops. At this time, watering should be reduced to prevent root rot caused by excessive moisture of basin soil.
Coal cinder mixed with peat and a small amount of perlite, the proportion is about 6:3:1, cultivated in small basin.
When the pot soil is dry, the crispy duck can withstand the low temperature of about - 2 ℃, which is the indoor temperature. If it is not in the open air, then the top growth point of the low leaf will appear frostbite, dry up or even die. As long as the trunk is not dead, it will sprout new branches at the withered place in the next year.
It's almost the same to change the basin once every 1-2 years. Change the basin before the first watering in early spring.
There are branches, which can be cut and divided. Branch cutting is very simple. Take down the healthy old branches and dry them in the slightly wet sand. Cool and ventilated for 15 to 20 days, the roots will grow basically, and the best choice for cutting is in spring and autumn.
It can be planted in the garden or potted on the windowsill, tea table or desk.
