The main disease and insect pest of bamboo blossom is grey mould. The disease mainly damages its leaves and stems. In the early stage of the disease, small yellow spots like water stains will appear on the edge of the leaves. In the later stage, several lesions fused together, and most of the affected parts became brown, even soft and rotten. When the air is humid, the diseased part will grow grey mould layer, sometimes it will cause bud withering.
The disease is easy to occur in the environment of low temperature and high humidity. In spring and autumn, when the maintenance environment temperature is low or the duration of high humidity is long, the disease is most likely to occur. When the air humidity is high, the pathogen will produce a large number of conidia to infect the plant many times.
The spores of Botrytis cinerea can be transmitted by air flow, water sprinkling, rainwater, irrigation water and farming. The spores germinate and produce germ tubes, which invade the inner part of the plant from the wound and necrotic tissue of the plant and damage the plant.
In the season of low temperature and high humidity, water should be controlled to reduce the humidity of the maintenance environment. The diseased leaves should be cut off in time and destroyed in a centralized way. At the same time, it is necessary to spray fungicide or gray mold to the diseased plants for treatment to prevent infection to other plants.
