The rhizome grows crosswise. There are many branches on it. The outer skin is yellowish brown, which is easy to become flakes and fall down. The cross section is yellow.

The capsule is oval or oval in shape, with three wings on the edge. The wings on each edge are different in size, generally about 2cm in length and 1.5cm in width. When it is mature, it is withered yellow. The fruit period is from July to September.
