According to the local climate and other factors, it is generally better to collect the buds on the branches of Redwood before they are fully bulged, i.e. from the last ten days of March to the first ten days of April.
Cut the strip immediately after mining. Three buds need to be kept on each insert. Cut 15-20 mm from the upper bud and 3-5 mm from the lower bud into ear shape. The length of each cutting is about 8-12 cm. The best choice for the bottom diameter of cuttings is about 5-10 mm, which can ensure a better rooting rate.
The cut strips shall be bundled up and down according to 50 bundles, and then put into a flat bottom container with 5-6cm deep clear water for hydrolysis treatment, which will take 3 days and nights. If conditions permit, water can be poured and drained at the same time. If there are no conditions, water can be changed every morning and evening. Then place the cuttings in the container after hydrolysis treatment, and then pour abt1:500000 solution into the container, with a depth of about 3-5cm. The soaking time depends on the water temperature. When the water temperature is below 8 ℃, it needs to be soaked for about 6-8 hours. When the water temperature is above 8 ℃, it needs to be soaked for 3-4 hours.
Choose the flat land with shade, pave the wet sand about 6-8 cm thick, and then invert the cuttings according to the angle of 75 degrees. Then cover with a layer of wet sand, about 5-6cm thick. And water 2-3 times a day, pay attention to the need to use the sun water. About 20-30 days later, it can be taken out for cutting.
