A few days ago, Hua Hua went to the forum and found that a flower friend had sunned his own red palm. An old flower bud had been in full bloom for 11 months. It was still in standby mode. If there were not new ones coming out, I really thought there was a fake flower on the balcony.~

Red palm is also called flower candle. It is a perennial evergreen herb with a very long flowering period. It can blossom all year round if properly maintained. Many people like to keep it on the balcony, which means red and fiery days.

The flower of red palm is red, in fact, it's the Buddha's flame bract. Its fleshy inflorescence stretches out from the bracts, like a candle, which is also the source of its "flower candle" name.

Huazhu likes loose and fertile soil, which is sensitive to salt. It can be planted with peat soil or rotten leaf soil, plus rotten horse manure and appropriate perlite.

When planting Anthurium andraeanum, the bottom of the basin should be padded with rubble or ceramsite to keep the basin soil ventilated and drained. Usually, the basin should be changed every 2-3 years, and it is better to change the basin in spring.

Red palm likes half shade, but it can't be lack of light. Otherwise, the opening product of red palm will decline when it's light, which will seriously affect the growth of plants, weak roots and weak seedlings.

So every year, in addition to the summer and autumn sun need to be properly shaded, other seasons must be more sun, especially the severe lack of light in winter, the light should be enough.

Shade in summer can also play a role in cooling, because it is the most comfortable in the environment of 20-28 ℃, growing slowly above 35 ℃, stopping growing below 18 ℃, and frostbite easily below 13 ℃.

Anthurium andraeanum likes wet environment. It can spray water to the plant to keep moisture under the condition of good ventilation. If the ventilation is poor, do not spray water, which is easy to cause plant diseases.

You can carry the flowerpot when watering. When you feel that it is obviously lighter, you can water it immediately. When you pour it, you can water it thoroughly. Keep a dry wet alternate state. When the temperature is low in winter, you can reduce the amount of water you pour.

In terms of fertilizer application, Anthurium andraeanum has a very high demand for potassium fertilizer. It can apply more banana peel powder. In the growth period of seedlings, the amount of nitrogen and potassium is 7 times and 10 times of that of phosphorus respectively. When it grows up, it can reduce the amount of nitrogen fertilizer and promote flowering.

In addition to normal maintenance, we should pay attention to ventilation at ordinary times to reduce the possibility of diseases and insect pests. In case of disease, we should remove the diseased leaves in time to reduce the possibility of disease infection.

If the ash falling from the leaves of Anthurium andraeanum affects the ornamental value, it can be diluted 20 times with beer and water. Dip a soft cloth in the beer liquid to wipe the flowers. Only the leaves can be wiped, not the flowers.

When the pedicel of Anthurium andraeanum turns yellow, it means that the flower is about to bloom and fail. It should be cut off 2cm from the base of the pedicel in time. If there are yellow leaves and dry leaves, they should also be cut at any time.

In addition, Anthurium andraeanum should be transferred once every half a month, which can balance the growth of the plant. There are too many sucked buds (young seedlings not growing up) at the base of the plant. They should be removed in time, leaving one sucked bud for each cluster.

When the sucking buds grow up, they are small red palms. We can break them off from the mother plant, insert them in the water, wait for their new roots to emerge, and then transplant them into the soil. We can also maintain them by hydroponics.
