Tea plum is naturally fond of shade, so it grows best in the environment of half shade and half sun.
The strong light in summer may burn its leaves and branches and buds, causing the leaves to curl and fall off, but proper light is needed to make the flowers bloom and flourish.
Tea plum is suitable for growing in loose and fertile acid sandy soil with good drainage, while alkaline soil and clay are not suitable for planting tea plum. The best soil is humic soil with the pH value of 5.5-6.
Tea plum is cold resistant, but the pot plant is generally not lower than - 2 ℃, the most suitable growth temperature is 18 ℃ - 25 ℃.
Watering must be done thoroughly, once a day in the morning and evening in summer, once a few days in winter. In addition to winter, spray water to the leaves every few days to keep the leaves clean.
The fertilization of tea plum is suitable for light, especially in seedling stage.
Generally, one or two times of human urine can be applied from February to march to promote the growth of its branches and leaves; one time of cake fertilizer and water can be applied from April to May to promote the differentiation of its flower buds; another time of phosphate fertilizer can be applied from September to October to promote its flowering and winter.
In midsummer, it is necessary to shade the tea plum and avoid strong sunlight at noon. In the morning and evening, you can have more sunshine, which is conducive to flower bud differentiation and development.
In winter, tea plum should be moved into the room for winter. In other seasons, it can be cured in the shade.
In winter, the room temperature should not exceed 7 ℃, preferably 3 ℃ - 6 ℃.
Potted tea plum should choose the culture soil with loose texture, fertile, smooth drainage and slight acidity.
In the north of China, sapropel or peat soil should be used as the main culture soil.
