Chlorophytum has a slight cold tolerance, but the temperature is too low in winter, or to control the temperature, the minimum should be maintained at more than 5 degrees, to avoid frostbite. It is fond of half shade environment, but winter light is very downy, the means conserve that can use full day to illuminate. The amount and frequency of watering should be reduced, and watering should be carried out after the temperature rises at noon. In addition, the yellow and dry leaves should be cut off to reduce nutrient consumption, which is beneficial to winter and next year's growth.

1. Select and cut

Prepare a sugarcane without peeling, the thicker the better, cut the sugarcane into several small sections with a knife, ensure that the two ends of the incision are flush, each section has 1-3 sections, and then put the cut sugarcane sections in a cool and ventilated place, so that the wound can be thoroughly dried.

2. Planting sugarcane

Prepare the soil, place the dried sugarcane segments flat on the soil surface, if the cut sugarcane has multiple nodes, place the bud point on each node toward the left and right sides, if the cut sugarcane has only one node, place the bud point upward, and gently bury the sugarcane segments with soil.

3. Post-planting maintenance

After the sugarcane sections are planted, irrigate them thoroughly and put them in a ventilated place with scattered light to keep the soil moist. If the curing temperature is low and the air humidity is poor, cover the sugarcane with a plastic bag to keep the temperature and moisture. Open the bag at noon every day to ventilate until the sugarcane germinates.

4. Growing and thinning

After the sugarcane is germinated, the bag should be removed and the sugarcane should be exposed to the sun for at least 5 hours every day to avoid excessive growth of the sugarcane. When the seedlings from the sugarcane grow to a height of 20cm, it should be ensured that there are 1-2 strong seedlings in each sugarcane section, and the rest of the seedlings with weak growth should be broken off.

5. Water and Fertilizer Management

When potting sugarcane, watering should not be too frequent, otherwise sugarcane is easy to yellow leaves and rotten roots, it is best to wait for the surface of potted soil to turn white and dry before watering, and when sugarcane grows to 30 cm high, fertilization can be started, farmyard manure can be applied, and compound fertilizer and phosphorus and potassium fertilizer can also be used in combination.

6: Precautions

If you plant sugarcane in a flowerpot, make sure the flowerpot is large enough. When planting, bury chicken manure at the bottom of the pot as base fertilizer. After the sugarcane sprouts, bask in the sun more. After that, you can earth up and apply fertilizer as the sugarcane grows.
