Put the mature and healthy fruit of Pitaya in the prepared gauze, knead it under the running water, rub it with your hands, and the seeds will be separated out after washing the pulp. These seeds can be used for planting.
The planting soil can be configured by itself. Peat and perlite can be used for mixing according to the ratio of three to one or four to one. Choose a container with a permeable hole at the bottom of the appropriate size, fill the bottom of the container with coarse stones or ceramsites, cover the upper part with planting soil, add a little bottom fertilizer, and then fill the planting soil. Spray the soil surface with a watering can and evenly spread the seeds. Do not cover the top with soil, just cover the opening of this flowerpot with a plastic film. It can germinate in about three to five days at room temperature above 20 ℃.
After the seeds germinate, we can see the purple leaves. Then we can remove the fresh-keeping film, let it gradually see the light, let the seedlings enter the normal growth, when the seedlings can grow from the center of the small triangular twigs, with small villi on the edge, then we can transplant.
From sowing to planting, we usually need to change the basin for two or three times. At the beginning, the basin should be smaller. Each basin should be planted with three to five plants, so that it can grow. When the stem of Pitaya can reach 20 to 30 cm, we suggest to use a basin with a diameter of 20 cm. It is suitable to plant a plant. The soil used for planting does not need to be too particular, but it needs to be loose and fertile, with good drainage. It takes about two or three years from planting to flowering and bearing.
